Promoting Webcomics on TopWebcomics

Hi there all you specially wonderful folks out there! Alex here with yet another exciting fun article for all you peeps out there. And I’m not referring to food. Today, I’ll be covering Topwebcomics.
To give some history, Topwebcomics is one of the world’s leading webcomic communities where creators, fans, readers, and followers can vote for their favorite comics daily. Now let’s get the ball rolling with this fun tutorial for webcomic creators. I would recommend only employing SFW images on all items discussed below. Once you sign up for TopWebcomics, go ahead and hit “Manage Webcomic” followed by “Register New Comic.”
Afterwards, provide a Webcomic Name, Webcomic URL, Upload an Image, specify a Webcomic Rating and Webcomic Style, and provide a short Webcomic description.
For the image, I would highly recommend using 936 pixels wide by 120 pixels tall. For the description, I would recommend a maximum of 280 characters. Once you’re back to “Manage Webcomic” please select “Edit.” Here, you can add additional information, such as Facebook URL, Twitter URL, selecting three genres, and upload a banner image at 190 pixels wide by 174 pixels tall. You can also grab one of those nifty banners at the bottom.
Once done on this page, click “Samples.” Here, you can upload images of your comic page for readers to check out a preview of your comic and/or artwork. I’d recommend five samples. Once done on this page, click “Avatars.” For readers not logged into TopWebcomics, they normally have to select the avatar’s name from one of three choices to prove that they are not a bot. This offers webcomic creators a perfect opportunity for further promote their characters within a comic. Simply attach a 97 pixel wide by 97 pixel tall avatar with the name of said avatar on the image.
Once done on this page, click “Incentives.” An encouragement to vote, readers can vote and see an exclusive image. All one has to do is simply upload an image, write a description, specify a time, and thank the readers for a vote. Once done on this page, click “Bonus Incentives.” Remember what I said earlier about registered users? Well, if you log into TopWebcomics, in the upper left hand corner, you will see a thumbs up with the words “INCENTIVES LIKE IT OR HATE IT.”
If you happen to click on it, you will be taken to a bonus page where an image from a random webcomic appears. You are then presented with two choices, SKIP or LIKE. If you select SKIP, no votes will be given to that comic. If you select LIKE, the comic receives one additional vote.
Now for a quick observation… There are several orientation and sizes of images on the Bonus Incentives page. I also noticed that zooming out at 33% allows me to see a portrait image that is 1,000 pixels wide by 1,500 pixels tall image along with the skip or like button at the exact same place. Here’s how you can take advantage of that. I personally use Canva for some template creation. I’d recommend exploring some of the free templates, specifically the Pinterest Post 1,000 x 1,500 or creating a blank Pinterest post from scratch. Once you do that, you can go ahead and create ten equal Pinterest posts and use that for your Bonus Incentive.
Now, will this help your comic get up to the Number 1 slot? Probably not. In all honesty, the best thing that anyone can do is to advertise it on all fronts. Put a link on your comic website, put links on your DeviantArt , FurAffinity, or other art gallery social media channels, advertise weekly on X, formally Twitter, and work with other webcomic creators out there. I can cover the above in another article, but if you’re looking to join the Voting Corner, you can! Just simply check it out at https://kemono.cafe/voting/. And that’s it for this article. Until the next email or random Discord Message, stay awesome. Want to influence what I write next? Then head on over to the Kemono Cafe Discord server and tag @MrAMP to give your ideas in the general chat.
